June 15, 2016 – Medical advocate and retired family physician Dr. Merrilee Fullerton will officially launch her campaign this month to become the Ontario P.C. candidate in the new riding of Kanata-Carleton.
The campaign launch is being held at the Kanata Golf and Country Club on June 28th. Fullerton will be hosting a launch party for her campaign team and supporters and will speak about her concerns for the future of the residents of Kanata and West Carleton.
“I want to represent my home at Queen’s Park,” says Fullerton. “I am excited to be seeking the nomination for the Ontario Progressive Conservatives in the new riding of Kanata-Carleton. This has always been a wonderful community in which to live, grow up and see your kids grow up, and where you can make a living. I want to keep it so.”
“It is long past time for a change in our provincial government. The Liberals under Dalton McGuinty and Kathleen Wynne have done great damage to our way of life and I want to provide a strong voice for our community in making a difference and for a more promising future in Ontario.”
Merrilee Fullerton’s candidacy represents both families and business as she spent her life balancing herself between being Dr. Fullerton, family physician, and hockey/ soccer mom, neighbourhood block parent. She is a wife and mother, raising her three children in a busy Kanata household, as she had been raised. She is also a medical doctor, first serving out of the Carleton Place Hospital and then as a family physician at Med-Team Clinic in Kanata.
Merrilee Fullerton explains her reason for entering politics, “My parents raised their children to be active citizens, to contribute to the health of our community. I have spent my career speaking out for and helping people. I see my next step as representing my home and community at Queen’s Park to make Kanata-Carleton a better place to live, work and raise a family.” She added, “I want to say that I helped leave our community a better place for the next generations.”
