She has a positive attitude and a sunny personality. She is a listener, is open to the opinions of others and will work cooperatively in the legislature.” Mrs. Mlacak added, “I know that my late husband, John Mlacak, former Reeve of March Township, now the city of Kanata, would have been eager to endorse Merrilee.”

Jackie Holzman released a statement: “Merrilee is entering politics for all the right reasons. She is motivated by her genuine concern for her community. Her understanding of civic duty and contributing to our City is what makes Merrilee such an attractive candidate.”

Phil Downey released a statement: “Merrilee has a solid grasp of these concerns and she will be effective fighting for us at Queen’s Park… We can count on her.”

Thom Bennett released a statement: “Merrilee is approachable, very presentable. She is respected. She is a doctor and health care advocate who knows the problems in our health care system. She has spent her life in the riding and has raised her family there. Merrilee can win the riding of Kanata-Carleton and will be a strong voice to add to our eastern Ontario caucus of MPPs.”

Marjory LeBreton stated at the launch of the nomination campaign in June 2016:  “I see her as “the ideal 21 st Century candidate”. Articulate. Thoughtful. Diligent. In speaking with her, you know her to be intelligent and respectful – and she is genuinely caring. Merrilee is exactly the type of person you’d want to represent your best interests at Queen’s Park.”
