March 14, 2017 – Local Progressive Conservatives are lining up to support Dr. Merrilee Fullerton’s candidacy as the PC candidate in the new provincial riding of Kanata-Carleton. She faces a nomination vote in the coming months and is currently selling memberships to secure that vote.
For many in Ottawa’s politic circles, Merrilee is seen as an articulate and intelligent individual who is both compassionate and someone who will fight for what is right. She represents the “new face” of the PC Party under its new Leader Patrick Brown. The Fullerton campaign has posted a series of testimonials on votemerrileefullerton.ca. Here are some excerpts from those testimonials.
Former PC Cabinet Minister and Ottawa MPP Claude Bennett says, “Merrilee is every bit a Progressive Conservative we can all be proud of. She is a fiscal conservative who will provide a compassionate hand up for those who need it. She is a professional, articulate and principled individual. No doubt, Merrilee will represent her constituents and the City of Ottawa well at Queen’s Park…”
Conservative Senator Marjory LeBreton says, “Merrilee Fullerton is “the ideal 21st Century candidate”. In speaking with her, you know her to be intelligent and respectful – and she is genuinely caring. She has a true moral compass. She exudes both energy and professionalism… Merrilee is exactly the type of person you’d want to represent our progressive conservative values in an election and our best interests at Queen’s Park.
Jackie Holzman, former Ottawa Mayor says, “It is terrific that Merrilee Fullerton wants to represent us at Queen’s Park. Her community involvement through the years, as a young woman, as a mother, and as a family physician, provides her with a solid understanding of our growing City….”
Conservative insider and Ottawa fundraiser Thom Bennett says, “… Merrilee is approachable, very presentable. She is respected. She is a doctor and health care advocate who knows the problems in our health care system. She has spent her life in the riding and has raised her family there. Merrilee can win the riding of Kanata-Carleton and will be a strong voice to add to our eastern Ontario caucus of MPPs.”
Barry Turner, former Ottawa PC MP says, “Dr. Merrilee Fullerton is one of those exceptional individuals who can bring energy and a positive influence to things she gets involved with. She is a quick study and is result-oriented. Her career in medicine speaks to her professionalism and her popularity as a family physician in our community speaks to her caring way….”
